Nature
Endless fine sand beaches. Mudflats, marvellously squelching out between your toes. Softly curved dune. Wild waves from the west. Radiant Red Cliff. Lush green meadows. Gaudy pink dog roses. Seductively tangy breezes, slightly damp heath. Distinctive. Endless variety. Kampen is naturally unique.
Kampen, the village between two seas. Here wild open sea, there wide soft, mudflats. In between heath areas, dune belts, reed fields, salt marshes, even a small forest. This village knows how to treasure nature and has rigorously protected it for nearly 100 years. Nearly 90 percent of Kampen’s open spaces is a nature conservation area. Kampen is also in this regard naturally quite different from other villages.
Dunes – Sylt’s mountains
Sandy attractions: Kampen’s dunes are unique. And the Uwe dunes, Sylt’s highest point for a complete all-island view lies in the middle of Kampen.
Kampen’s birds: feathered guests and natives
There are many of them. And not all – far from it – are real islanders. Birds are also only people and why they like “holidaying” in Sylt is clear: the island is one of the most beautiful service areas for travellers.
Something’s growing there: Kampen’s plants
Kampen’s plants have a story to tell. Look close and listen. What does the gorse want? What is the light of the arnica telling islanders and how do you make elder juice?
The mudflats, Kampen’s picturesque east
A wonderland for anyone eager for knowledge, point of attraction for the adventurous, a part of the German national park, a fascinating world of its own, a canvas for spectacular cloud paintings, a living space for much, much more wildlife than one thinks is the Watt vor Kampen.
