Journey
Simply there and back – that’s how to get to Kampen!
There are four ways to get to Kampen or Sylt. By ferry, plane, passenger train or motorail train, the so-called Syltshuttle, from Niebüll. The best way to travel? Exactly the way that suits you. You choose – from the comfortable to the spectacular.
DB Motorail Train
And the last bit with a chauffeur: if you come with a car, you can drive the last kilometres from the DB motorail train SyltShuttle. Niebüll there is one at the DB motorail terminal with two-storied red carriages. The train carries your car on its back.
Passenger train
Please lean back. The comfortable way to travel to the island: by passenger train with the Schleswig-Holstein panorama-view included. On the last stage from Hamburg to Westerland the NOB (Nord-Ostsee-Bahn – North-Baltic Sea Railway) passes through the most northerly part of Germany lengthwise over heaths and Husum.
Sylt ferries
The island way of travelling with external side trips. Over the Danish border there’s an endless road dead straight to the neighbouring island of Römö. There in the south at Havnby, the Sylt ferry departs and takes you past Ellbogen to List on Sylt in 30 minutes.
With a bit of luck you can even wave to the seals on your way.
Plane
The quickest way to start your holiday. Sylt airport links all federal German capital cities with your favourite island. Breathtaking approach with a clear view of the entire island. Experts claim this is one of the most spectacular views from the cockpit in Germany certainly, perhaps even in the entire world. You can get to Sylt airport by scheduled flight, charter, private charter and of course with your own plane.
